Engineering Discovery Days, April 23 and 24, continues the tradition of sharing the work of the College of Engineering, U. Washington, with students, teachers and families. While both days are free and open to all, each day has a primary focus. Registration is required for groups of 10 or more and for groups arriving in buses.

The Great Lakes Spaceport Education Foundation, Inc.’s Rockets for Schools program allows students to experience the excitement of building-high power rockets, coordinating a rocket launch and working hands-on with industry professionals. This program is open to students of varied socio-economic backgrounds in grades 6-12 from a five state area in the Midwest. Rockets for Schools 2010 is scheduled for Friday, May 7th and Saturday, May 8th in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

The exhibit hall of Fernbank Science Center in Atlanta, GA, spans some 9000 square feet, circling a planetarium theater, and split over two levels. Within these areas are numerous displays which deal with a whole array of scientific concepts. The theme for the entire exhibit area reflects the slogan of the Science Center: “Where Science Becomes an Adventure.”

The Anchorage National Engineer’s Week Student Competitions are supported by the UAA School of Engineering and engineers from south central Alaska. The Triton Engineering Student Council at the University of California, San Diego, celebrates E-Week with Enspire, a student-run outreach event designed to introduce middle school students to university-level engineering. On Wed., Feb. 17th, approximately 400 students will be shown around labs and introduced to engineering through hands-on projects, and will participate and compete in a design competition.
