Lessonopoly is a free software portal, created with input from teachers to deliver a set of effective and easy-to-use tools. The site helps teachers organize activities inside and outside the classroom, create and share lesson plans, and connect to other teachers by building online communities. The USA Science & Engineering Festival will be the United States’ first national science and engineering festival. The series of events will culminate in a two-day Expo on the National Mall that will give over 500 science & engineering organizations from all over the country the opportunity to present themselves with a hands-on, fun science activity to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

The Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) is a national non-profit education organization dedicated to promoting engineering and helping students discover their potential for the profession. JETS engages students in a variety of educational programs that increase awareness of what engineers do and show how math and science are used to make tangible differences in the world.

Highlights for High School is an MIT initiative providing free, open source teaching and learning materials to high school teachers and students. These materials include video lecture clips, lecture notes, practice problems, exams, and other resources from MIT’s introductory physics, biology, and calculus courses; mini-courses for high school students developed by MIT students; and an introduction for students to the college-level MIT curriculum and course materials on OpenCourseWare.

The Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education sponsors and designs interdisciplinary projects that teachers can use to enhance their curriculum through compelling use of the Internet. CIESE focuses on projects that utilize real time data available from the Internet, and collaborative projects that utilize the Internet’s potential to reach peers and experts around the worldm as well as a list of online resources. Each project has a brief description and links to the National Science Standards and NCTM math standards it supports.

The National Science Resources Center (NSRC) was established in 1985 by the Smithsonian Institution and the National Academies. Its mission is to improve the learning and teaching of science for all students in the United States and throughout the world. JETS Practical Understanding is an online exercise that allows users to sample the kinds of problems engineering students tackle. It also provides the chance to solve some problems, see how interesting they are, and how well you understand them. The exercise contains 25 multiple-choice questions covering general areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Attempting all 25 questions takes about 30 minutes to complete.
