In honor of Earth Day, girls in grades 6-8 will participate in hands-on activities led by Kansas State graduate and undergraduate students on April 10, 2010. Activities will explore new and innovative ways scientists & engineers are working to save our planet. Cost: $15 registration fee plus $5 lunch fee for adults. Event: Engineering Open House at UT-Austin

The University of Texas at Austin will host its 11th annual “Explore UT, The Biggest Open House in Texas!” from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 6. More than 50,000 visitors are expected to participate in a day of free activities, performances, demonstrations and lectures. The Cockrell School of Engineering will be hosting a variety of hands-on activities, lectures, and displays. Visitors will see the latest in solar powered vehicles, learn about the reverse engineering of toys, find out how computers really work, and experience biomedical engineering and how engineering is involved in the making of artificial body parts.

Girls Weekend: Engineering at U. Kansas with SWE

SWEThe SWE Weekend of Engineering is a fun weekend of exploration for high school women held each fall and spring semester and sponsored by the Society of Women Engineers. The program, which begins on a Saturday morning and ends on a Sunday afternoon, is an opportunity to learn about engineering as well as get a taste for college life KU Style.
