Spark!Lab is a hands-on invention activity center at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington, DC,. The fun activities incorporate history, science, engineering, technology, and art to help kids and families learn about the history and process of invention. Young visitors can play games, conduct science experiments, explore inventors’ notebooks, and even invent! Lab bench experiments are offered at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.

The George Lucas Educational Foundation, which was created to help education catch up with the many technical advancements in how we interact with each other and the world, maintains a comprehensive website called Edutopia, which features resources and videos for teachers. It is designed to spread the word about ideal, interactive learning environments and enable others to adapt these successes locally. Edutopia contains an archive of continually updated best practices, from classroom tips to recommendations for district-wide change.

The Great Lakes Spaceport Education Foundation, Inc.’s Rockets for Schools program allows students to experience the excitement of building-high power rockets, coordinating a rocket launch and working hands-on with industry professionals. This program is open to students of varied socio-economic backgrounds in grades 6-12 from a five state area in the Midwest. Rockets for Schools 2010 is scheduled for Friday, May 7th and Saturday, May 8th in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
