Each week for 25 weeks, Dupont will unveil a new STEM collectible trading card featuring one scientist out of the countless men and women who have made an impact through STEM research and education. Featured thus far? Albert Einstein, George Washington Carver, Sergey Brin.

The 2011 DuPont Challenge invites students in grades 7-12 to write a 700 to 1,000-word essay discussing a scientific discovery, theory, event, or technological application that has captured their interest. Prize include $5,000-$2,000 U.S. Savings Bonds and a trip to Disney World and the Kennedy Space Center. Application process open Nov. 15, 2010 through Jan. 31, 2011.
The Peace Corps Coverdell WorldWise Schools Website offers lessons, information about cross-cultural publications, videos, stories, folk tales, and a program to help arrange classroom visits by Peace Corps Volunteers. The program is designed to broaden perspectives in culture and geography and to encourage service. It also helps students come to better value the rich heritage and broad representation of peoples within their own communities.
Contributors to American technological prowess include 1968 Nobel laureate Luis Walter Alvarez, Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman astronaut, who is now deputy director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, and Dan Arvizu, who heads the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. 
This report discusses how 15 public high schools excelled. The schools were featured at the Fifth Annual Conference of the Achievement Gap Initiative at Harvard University in June of 2009. At the conference, teams from each of the schools made brief presentations with evidence of their impressive achievements and then faced extensive questioning from experts about the methods by which they achieved such progress.
Engineering company Northrop Grumman provides a number of professional development and class resources for teachers, including the Weightless Flights of Discovery Program, which allows teachers to experience microgravity; the EarthWatch Educator Program where teachers participate in an expedition focused on climate change or oceans preservation; the Galileo Teacher Training Program, which involves workshops using telescopic investigations; and more.
The NASA Quest Website offers a range of online resources for teachers, students, parents, and others, so that the public can share the excitement of NASA’s authentic scientific and engineering pursuits, like flying in the Shuttle and the International Space Station, exploring distant planets with spacecraft, and building the aircraft of the future.
