Several contests are being planned to be held at the Science Museum of Virginia on Sunday Feb. 28, 2010, during Career Day in conjunction with Engineers Week. As in years past, contests will include an egg drop contest and a bridge building contest.

Essay Contest: R U Curious? Grades 1-12, Cambridge, Mass.


Students ages 5 to 18 are invited to take the Cambridge Science Festival’s Curiosity Challenge: Write an essay, draw or take a picture about your curiosity and tell us how it prompted you to explore your world. Then enter your essay or artwork in the Curiosity Challenge by submitting it at any Cambridge Public School or Cambridge Public Library branch or at the MIT Museum by Feb. 12, 2010.

Kids Career Day , Feb. 13, 2010, is a half day program at the University of Akron, OH, designed to involve girls grades 1-5 in activities related to engineering, science, technology, and math careers. Over 500 students grades K-6 from 500 Suffolk County, NY, schools take part every year in Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Elementary School Science Fair.
