The SWE Weekend of Engineering is a fun weekend of exploration for high school women held each fall and spring semester and sponsored by the Society of Women Engineers. The program, which begins on a Saturday morning and ends on a Sunday afternoon, is an opportunity to learn about engineering as well as get a taste for college life KU Style. The National Academy of Engineering is soliciting nominations of students who have made a contribution to one of the 14 NAE Grand Challenge problem areas: Sustainability, Health, Vulnerability, Joy of Living. The winning stories will be featured at a summit on April 21, 2010 at Wellesley College, bringing together educators, students and leaders from business and government to explore new ways to educate the next generation of Grand Challenge leaders and to celebrate the efforts of young people working to solve grand challenge problems. Deadline for nomination: March 1, 2010. For students age 13 and up.

The Anchorage National Engineer’s Week Student Competitions are supported by the UAA School of Engineering and engineers from south central Alaska. The event will be held at the University of Alaska Anchorage Campus Sat., Feb. 20, 2010, for students, grades 1-12.
