Project CANDLE is a partnership to Create an Alliance to Nurture Design in Lighting Education. Some activities include: travel awards that expose students to career opportunities in lighting; the mentorship of a future lighting educator through the IALD Future Lighting Educator Fellowship; an annual Lighting Industry Advisory Group (LIAG) Roundtable; and outreach to high school students.

The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) has put together a public/private partnership to develop ways of engaging elementary, middle, and high school students in engineering. Science Club for Girls (SCFG) is a series of afterschool STEM programs offering K-12 girls the chance to explore science and technology through experiments and activities. Through the Junior Mentor leadership program, teenage girls become role models, teaching young children science, learning life skills, conducting outreach, and exploring careers in STEM fields.
