EnergyTrends Video Contest

What do 6th and 7th graders know about where energy comes from, how much we use, and how that affects our daily lives? EnergyTrends.org is hosting a video contest for public school students to find out. Deadline is midnight May 29, 2015.

The STEM Voice™ Video Competition asks kids in grades 5-12 to create videos that show the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math. They can act in it, create an animation, sing – the video just has to be appropriate for all viewers. Two grand prize winners will receive $1,000 in cash awards. The submission deadline is April 17, 2015.
Pow! Kaboom! Building on the surging popularity of the Avengers, Batman, Captain America and other movie superheroes, the National Science Foundation and National Nanotechnology Initiative have launched a new competition to encourage students to “think big” and pursue STEM.
Students worldwide between 13 and 18 can win scholarships, a trip to the Galapagos, and a first-hand look at Virgin Galactic’s latest spacecraft in the fifth annual Google Science Fair. New this year: a $10,000 Inspiring Educator award for a teacher who “goes above and beyond” to encourage students to “achieve great things.” Submit projects by May 19, 2015.
Apply for or nominate a great middle or high school STEM teacher for a $2,000 DiscoverE Educator Award. Deadline: March 16, 2015.
The Young Mind Awards are a global competition for middle and high school students to inspire interest in becoming innovators and engineers. Teams or individuals design and build a product to solve a problem or improve a process, then demonstrate how it works in a three-minute video presentation. Entries are due May 31, 2015.
Submit a short video about how achieving one or more of the National Academy of Engineering’s “Grand Challenges” would lead to a more sustainable, healthy, secure, and/or joyous world and win up to $25,000. Submissions due by March 2, 2015. 
Can you build a crazy contraption to clean a chalkboard? that’s the task of this year’s Rube Goldberg Machine Contest, open to middle school teams as well as high school and college students. Most registration deadlines fall in January and February, 2015. Ready, set, build!

Young woman between the ages of 13 and 18 who like to take a creative approach to projects will find the Cisco Internet of Things World Forum Young Women’s Innovation Grand Challenge is for them!
