Nickelodeon: Earth Day Events Promotion

The children’s programming TV network Nickelodeon is offering to feature camera footage of events with groups performing “green activities” that promote a healthy Earth environment. Submitted footage may be featured on the network or on their website.

A crime scene visit with law-enforcement officers brings math to life for San Bernardino, Calif.-area high schoolers. One lesson: How investigators use trigonometry to calculate the location of a victim, suspect or crime objects. 
Twenty one Chicago schools are trying out a digital science program from Discovery Education, hoping to raise low levels of science readiness. “We’re trying to connect with students where they’re at,” said John Loehr, Chicago Public Schools’ science director. “It’s an environment they can respond to, and then we can give them the resources to expand and keep learning.”
Dean of Invention is a new television series, airing Fridays, 10 PM E/P on Planet Green, hat features futuristic visions of what science and technology can do to save our planet and improve our lives today. In Scaling Britain, a new BBC TV program on English engineering and architecture, Jonathan Foyle clambers up iconic buildings to explore such intriguing topics as the physics of flying buttresses, and the materials science of stained glass.
NBCLearn and the NSF have teamed up with the NFL to show that science and sports do mix in a new 10-part documentary that examines the science involved in pro football. The free videos feature top discussions with football players, followed by scientists who explain the science and math behind certain plays, rerun in super-slo-mo.
Brief, engaging webisodes feature the work of Department of Defense engineers and scientists, ranging from dolphin training to austronauts’ high tech gloves to computer design of naval vessels. The web videos encourage student interest in STEM subjects and technical careers at a Defense laboratory.
