Engineering company Northrop Grumman provides a number of professional development and class resources for teachers, including the Weightless Flights of Discovery Program, which allows teachers to experience microgravity; the EarthWatch Educator Program where teachers participate in an expedition focused on climate change or oceans preservation; the Galileo Teacher Training Program, which involves workshops using telescopic investigations; and more.

Purdue’s College of Science K-12 Outreach program provides professional development programs for teachers, forms long term partnerships with school districts, and presents activities for students. The Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net), which creates activities and materials for its NanoDays programs, has a web page devoted to providing K-12 teachers with valuable tools for teaching nanoscience in the classroom. The web page features links to introductory materials, activity packages from NISE Net, tools for professional development of teachers, college-level lectures and curriculum, and publications about teaching nanotech.

The exhibit hall of Fernbank Science Center in Atlanta, GA, spans some 9000 square feet, circling a planetarium theater, and split over two levels. Within these areas are numerous displays which deal with a whole array of scientific concepts. The theme for the entire exhibit area reflects the slogan of the Science Center: “Where Science Becomes an Adventure.”
