Aimed at encouraging more middle and high school students to become innovators and engineers, the Young Mind Awards are a global competition showcasing design engineering and research and development excellence.

Students design, build, and demonstrate a product in a three-minute video presentation. The product must solve a problem or improve a process in one of five categories:

* Wireless
* Electronic
* Medical
* Electromechanical/Mechanical
* Research & Development

Winning students, teams, and their associated teachers and schools can receive up to $1,000 in gift cards.

Judging ends July 31, 2015, with the awards ceremony to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, in conjuction with the R&D 100 on November 13, 2015.
