Teens Grasp Value of Math and Science
A survey commissioned by Intel finds that, “contrary to perceptions that American teenagers are apathetic about math and science, students highly value the importance of these subjects and understand the role of math and science to their futures,” the corporation reports.
The survey of 1,000 teens shows most have “high personal confidence” in their own math and science abilities, but they’re not confident that the country as a whole is able to compete in these subjects. They attribute this to a lack of hard work and discipline, not to a lack of school funding or resources. The company says “This may suggest they need to be challenged more in the classroom.”
