Teachers’ Summer: Certification in Teaching 21st Century Skills

NYITWhen: The week of July 12, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Where: New York Institute of Technology
Application Deadline: April 30, 2010
Cost: Free unless taken for Graduate credit.

The New York Institute of Technology, in conjunction with Intel, is offering training and certification in teaching 21st Century Skills. This course is designed to create a foundation of skills for teachers to fully integrate technology into existing classroom curricula and has the potential to close the achievement gap for students in science, math and technology. Participants will explore learning experiences in the STEM content areas and will include instruction in rich internet resources and cutting edge technology.

Participants receive textbooks, materials and supplies, along with a STEM Probe Kit to take back to the participant’s school. Travel reimbursement and meals included in this no cost training. Housing is available for travel greater than 50 miles. Grad credit available from NYIT for $355 per course with additional work satisfactorily completed. Professional development certificate will be awarded.

  • Classes are in variety of formats: online, virtual, video conference, in-person symposia, and professional conferences
  • Exciting learning environments with practitioner instructional technology faculty

EDIT 701 Contemporary Strategies for Technology Integration in the Curriculum
EDIT 702 Critical Thinking and Communicating with Technology
EDMA 625 Mathematics, Science and Technology in Education I
EDSC 626 Mathematics, Science and Technology in Education II
EDIT 605 Instructional Applications of Internet

At the completion of the course, participants will be required to train 10 teachers within 12 months of certification.
