Resource: George Lucas Educational Foundation
The George Lucas Educational Foundation, which was created to help education catch up with the many technical advancements in how we interact with each other and the world, maintains a comprehensive website called Edutopia, which features resources and videos for teachers. It is designed to spread the word about ideal, interactive learning environments and enable others to adapt these successes locally. Edutopia contains an archive of continually updated best practices, from classroom tips to recommendations for district-wide change.
Allied with a dedicated audience that actively contributes success stories from the field, the initiative relies on input and participation from schools and communities. The over-arching goal is to connect and inspire positive change in all areas of education.
The Edutopia website is an in-depth and interactive resource. It offers practical, hands-on advice, real-world examples, lively contributions from practitioners, and invaluable tips and tools. Through a range of documentaries, Edutopia Video helps educators and parents, as well as business and community leaders, see and understand pioneering best practices. Edutopia also publishes a magazine, several blogs, and special reports, and it offers online digital groups for educating professionals.
More about the Foundation and its goals can be read on its Core Concepts page, as well as in a personal statment from Star Wars and Foundation creator George Lucas.
