School Green Roofs & Gardens
Boston Latin students in the Youth Climate Action Network helped design a sustainable roofscape and community learning center atop the city’s oldest school. The green roof initiative includes a pilot interdisciplinary curriculum on environmental sustainability and is part of a school-wide effort to reduce greenhouse gases and promote health.
The Academy for Global Citizenship, a Chicago public charter school, has a green roof learning center that includes an “edible schoolyard” vegetable garden, chicken coop, and solar panels.
