What do the Trans-Alaska pipeline, Brooklyn Bridge, Chicago’s skyscrapers, and aviatrix Amelia Earhart have in common?
They’re all among America’s greatest engineering feats and milestones in engineering education featured on a new interactive map developed by PBS’s American Experience, TV’s most-watched history series, and dozens of partner institutions, including the American Society for Engineering Education.
View archival images of such engineering icons as the New York City subway. Access documents and videos that showcase U.S. engineering history or contribute materials for the map. (Email: american_experience@wgbh.org) A mobile app version is perfect for a class field trip, stroll around town, or family road trip.
The site also includes American Experience documentaries about the development of New York’s Penn Station and other pioneering engineering efforts, viewable online for free.
