National Science Foundation’s “Green Revolution” video series features scientists and engineers who are working to develop and improve the use of clean energy sources, new fuels and other energy-related technologies. Each 5-minute segment explores the research carried out by these men and women, as well as some of the basic science behind their work.Supplemental materials for educators is also included.

The International Materials Institute for New Functionality in Glass provides a list of glass related information and video clips that have been prepared and collected for educators, students, and general science enthusiasts. The annual Art of Science exhibition and contest at Princeton University displays images by the school’s undergraduates, faculty, research staff, graduate students, and alumni that explore the interplay between science and art. Based on the actual software currently used for training at its Launch Control Center, NASA’s downloadable Kennedy Launch Academy Simulation System Software (KLASS) enables a launch countdown simulation with a networked system of computers. The supporting KLASS Curriculum is a series of STEM lesson plans for students grades 6-10 with interactive resources that build to a simulated shuttle launch.

The Website of the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, or NOAA Research, has helpful information for teachers on oceans, Great Lakes, and coasts, climate, and weather and air quality, including a page of education resources, and an 18-minute video, “Dynamic Science,” that explains the work of the National Office. Bring students to the site to read about ocean mapping, the tsunamic research program, and NOAA’s work with hydroculture and fisheries.
