2010 Summer Institute in Engineering: Engineering the Elements – Polymers and Electronic Ceramics. This exciting residential program at Alfred University, June 27-July 1, 2010, offers students in grades 11 and 12 an opportunity to learn more about engineering; to sample life on a college campus; and to meet other students with similar interests and academic ability. The Women in Engineering Program at the University of Maryland will hold the 2011 DREAM Conference for girls in grades 11 and 12 on February 26, 2011, welcoming over 300 participants to the University of Maryland campus for a series of workshops, forums, demonstrations and discussions to ignite interest in engineering.

The one-week ASM Materials camp at Missouri University of Science and Technology, July 25-30, 2010, offers rising juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore materials science and engineering principles through a combination of mini-demonstrations, field trips, and group projects. Past projects have included microelectronic circuitry, friction-stir welding, ceramic magnets, metal casting, glass processing, and heat treatment and mechanical property evaluation. Cost: Free.
