25th Annual S.E.E.D. – Science Education Enrichment Day
Imagine making your own slime, talking turkey, driving a championship robot, becoming a TV meteorologist, or traveling through a virtual representation of outer space. These are just a few of the many activities planned for the 25th Annual S.E.E.D. – Science Education Enrichment Day at the University of South Carolina, October 16, 2010
Join us on October 16th from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and celebrate innovations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Visit the Ruth Patrick Science Center and other sites on the USC Aiken campus as student groups, regional corporations, museums, educators, and national labs join forces to present hundreds of activities for people of all ages.
Highlights of the the 25th Annual S.E.E.D. include:
- Hands on activities like paper and slime making
- Exhibitors such Aiken Co. Bloodhound Tracking Team, WAGT 26 Meteorology Team
- Demonstrations of technologies and intriguing science phenomena including robotics, earthquakes and more.
Organizers hope to increase awareness of the critical role science and other STEM fields play in our everyday existence.
This year S.E.E.D. is proud to be a Satellite Event of the inaugural USA Science & Engineering Festival being held on the mall in Washington D.C. Along with S.E.E.D., organizers of the USA Science & Engineering Festival hope to have a million people join in across the nation, and the best part—IT’S ALL FREE.
S.E.E.D. is hosted by the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center on the campus of USCA in conjunction with Aiken County Public Schools. Sponsors include Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC., SRP Federal Credit Union, WAGT NBC 26, WFXG FOX 54, Maxwell Law Firm, USC Aiken, Innovative Solutions, Aiken Electric Cooperative, Jeff and Ellen Priest, Automotive Workbench, and USC Aiken Dining Services.
