Mars Day!
Come discover what all of the hype and interest lately has been about the planet Mars. Delve deep into the mysteries of our close neighbor with the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s popular, educational and interactive summer event, “Mars Day!”, on Friday, July 16 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, on the National Mall in Washington, DC.
Visitors will be able to experience everything Mars hands-on through the expertise of top planetary scientists, real-life Martian meteorites and the latest technology being used for current and future missions all in one day at the National Air and Space Museum.
“Mars Day!” offers a variety of educational and fun family activities:
- Interact with active Mars-researching scientists from the Air and Space Museum, NASA and the Museum of Natural History.
- Explore the Museum’s new Mars exhibit with the curator
- See the surface of Mars in 3-D
- Operate a robotic “Mars rover”
- View high resolution images of Mars from the Reconnaissance Orbiter
