Celebrate CTE Month with NASA HUNCH

ACTE-NASA HUNCH Video Challenge

  • Theme: Advancing Space Exploration through Manufacturing
  • Who: Students of all ages, including in elementary, middle, and high school, who are enrolled in any career-technical or project-based class or program, or NASA HUNCH school
  • Deadline: Thursday, April 1, 2021

Students and teachers who fill out the Talent Release form before Tuesday, Feb. 4, will receive a NASA HUNCH certificate at the end of the school year.

  • Award: Winning schools will receive from NASA HUNCH HUNCH patches flown on the International Space Station with plaques, and $200 each from ACTE, plus a $25 Amazon.com gift card for each winning team member (maximum of 6 students per team). In addition, the winning videos will be promoted to ACTE members and shared with NASA HUNCH schools, the CTE community, and the public throughout the year.

To mark Career Technical Education (CTE) Month, the Association for Career & Technical Education has teamed up with NASA HUNCH – a  project-based learnng initiative – to offer the 3rd annual student video contest. This year’s theme: Advancing Space Exploration through Manufacturing.

The contest is open to students of all ages, including elementary, middle school, high school and postsecondary students in any CTE or project-based (hands-on) class or program, or NASA HUNCH school. Students may enter as individuals or as a team. Click HERE for submission guidelines and contest rules.

Contestants submit videos of up to 2 minutes in length on a manufacturing project or possible future scenario in one or more of the following areas advance our understanding of living and working in space:

  • Precision manufacturing
  • Additive manufacturing, including 3-D printing
  • Biofabrication, involving tissue cell production
  • Soft goods and sewn products, such as clothing, cargo transfer backs and space suit manufacturing
  • Food production, including plant science
  • Clean water production and recycling
  • Robotics in manufacturing
  • Habitat production
  • Energy production, including solar power
  • Transportation and rocket production
  • Satellite production for communications, weather, space exploration and more
  • Video production to document space exploration for research and verification
  • Pharmaceutical and medical equipment production

Deadline for submission is Thursday, April 4, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern
