4th Annual Arizona K-12 Science Teacher Symposium
From processing forensic evidence to exploring brain function, to studying GPS mapping, teachers will participate in a wide variety of hands-on workshops at the 4th Annual Arizona K-12 Science Teacher Symposium Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is presented by The University of Arizona’s BIO5 Institute.
The morning and afternoon workshops are designed to enhance life sciences education in Arizona schools and include opportunities to build a Galileoscope, simulate an infectious disease outbreak, explore the diversity of leaves in the schoolyard, and analyze the genetics of breast cancer.
Teachers also will take part in an expo that highlights UA resources for K-12 science teachers, and network with other K-12 educators from around the state. The resource fair and closing reception will be held at the Flandrau Science Center, where teachers will have the opportunity to experience a laser light or planetarium show.
All workshops meet Arizona science education standards, and teachers who participate receive eight hours toward recertification.
Registration
Registration includes breakfast, lunch, and a resource CD. After September 8, registration is $40. Registration is payable by check, money order, or school/district purchase order. Online registration
