Al Gore Hosts Online STEM Town Hall
Former Vice President Al Gore will host an interactive, online town hall focused on STEM Education that will connect young people from the United States with students from around the world. The live event “Math, Science and the Future of Our Nation” takes place November 17, 2010, at 12 p.m. ET. The discussion will focus on the attitudes of American youth toward math and science and how to inspire and motivate them so that they can be successful in a competitive global marketplace. The town hall will involve two internationally renowned science and technology leaders: inventor Dean Kamen and astronaut Sally Ride.
Members of the public will be able to join the town hall online, and will be able to submit live video questions and comments from anywhere in the world in real time. Simultaneous “viewing parties” are also being planned in 16 Time Warner Cable (TWC) markets across the country. The event is part of the Connect a Million Minds program, TWC’s philanthropic initiative for STEM education.
