Website: Nerd Girls
The Nerd Girls Website offers “a place where girls and women can celebrate their inner nerd and their femininity,” supporting “a growing, global movement which celebrates smart-girl individuality that’s revolutionizing our future.”
Based on the original Nerd Girl club, founded by Tufts University engineering professor Dr. Karen Panetta to empower her female students and challenge stereotypes about women in engineering, NerdGirls.com supports a blog and community forum and offers profiles of the current nerd girls team and their projects.
THINGS THEY’VE DONE
Nerd Girl engineers have solved myriad real world problems in tech fields, transportation, green technologies and more, to improve the lives of others, the environment and the world. Here are some highlights:
• Lighthouse Beacon: Installed solar technology in an historical landmark
