Teachers’ Summer: STEM at Cal Poly Pomona
Dates: July 12-30, 2010. Location: Cal Poly Pomona. Stipend: $2250 ($150/day for the 3 week workshop). Application Deadline: March 31, 2010.
During Summer 2010, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) high school teachers are encouraged to submit an application to join us for the 2010 Summer Institute taking place at Cal Poly Pomona. The dates of the workshop are July 12-30, 2010. Priority will be given to teachers who have an interest in developing high-interest laboratory lessons for their classrooms and did not have the opportunity to participate in the 2009 Summer Institute.
Key Workshop Highlights
• This experience will encourage participants to become content specific teacher-leaders in local schools and districts.
• Teachers will participate in over 70 hours of Professional Development and Instructional Strategies.
• Participants will collaborate to develop, review, and implement content lessons that include lab activities.
• Teachers will complete summer industry internships with local partners.
• The Learning Community will disseminate lessons via the web and participate in a follow-up meeting in early August 2010.
• Participants will receive $2250 ($150/day for the 3 week workshop).
