Exciting Discovery for Girls in Engineering (EDGE) is a residential camp at Purdue University geared for girls who have completed the 9th or 10th grade and want to explore the engineering field. EDGE provides an overview of engineering concepts through hands-on workshops (such as designing a roller coaster or robotic arm) and introduces the participants to various engineering fields. Campers will work with Purdue women engineering students and faculty and will take a field trip to an industrial facility. Past field trips have included a tour of the Motorola campus in Chicago or a behind-the-scenes visit to the Indianapolis Zoo where campers observed how engineers are involved in these industries.
There are two separate sessions: June 24 – 29 and July 31 – Aug. 5, 2011.
