Apollo Youth Art Contest
Who: PreK-12 students
What: Winners’ artwork will be displayed at Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center from July 18 to September 7, 2019.
Deadline: Register by June 1 and submit artwork by June 15, 2019.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo mission to the moon, NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center is hosting an art contest for preK-12 students. The aim: Help students understand the role of the Apollo missions in NASA’s advancements in human space exploration and inspire them to make the connection between science, history, and art.
Teachers, parents, or youth group leaders must complete and submit a registration form [PDF] for each student participant by Saturday, June 1, 2019 in order for students artwork to be accepted. Once your registration form has been processed you will receive an artwork identification form by email to submit with the original artwork. You will need to print out and complete a separate artwork identification form for each piece of artwork submitted. NASA 2019_youth_art_contest_registration_form
Student artwork must depict one of the numerous images collected by NASA from various Apollo missions in support of the theme “Apollo’s 50th Anniversary.” These include images of Earth’s Moon, past and current lunar missions, and all aspects of Apollo missions – including lunar spacecraft, launch vehicles, astronauts, mission patches, and elements of operations from ground to moon.

The contest is open to all U.S. citizens, nationals, and resident aliens who are in grades pre-K through 12. Winners will be selected in four categories: PreK-2, grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12. Click HERE for artwork guidelines and judging criteria.
All artwork must depict the contest theme and be submitted and postmarked by Saturday, June 15, 2019. Exceptions will not be judged. All entries will be returned to the artists after exhibition at the Wallops visitor center.
