Discovery Networks to Launch STEM Programs
Discovery Communications will launch a TV programming initiative called Be the Future in support of the Obama Administration’s push to boost STEM education. Over the next five years, Discovery will produce an educational programming block designed to inspire student learning and interest in science careers.
Be the Future will run on the Science Channel and Discovery Education, which offer services to more than half of all schools nationally, as well as online and on the Discovery Channel. The initiative will feature a commercial-free “Kids’ Science Block” for middle schoolers, continuation of the hand-ons “STEM Connect” series, an online “STEM Academy” for teachers, regular special programming events, a science education research study, and further infusion of STEM activities into Discovery academic competitions.
