Contest: American Math Challenge

AMC-BannerDates: October 26-27, 2010. Eligibility: American students K-12.

American Math Challenge

The American Math Challenge invites students to join in online, real-time mathematics competitions on October 26 and 27, 8 am – 11 pm.

The  Challenge is open to individual students or entire schools and classes in grades K-12 students. Prizes are offered for schools that register at least 20 students. The top prize, for the highest scorer, is a gold medal and an iPad. Other top scorers can win iPod Nanos and iPod Shuffles. Top winners can become part of Team America, going on to compete in the global World Math Day contest on March 1, 2011.

Teachers and parents, please visit the Website to learn more and to sign up your student teams online.

Cosponsored by nonprofit MATHCOUNTS Foundation and education consultants Voyager, the Challenge is an outgrowth of Math Mania, a series of statewide and regional online math competitions that began in 2007.  The 2010 World Math Day games attracted students from 235 countries and claimed the Guinness world record for the largest online math competition. Organizers say it’s an “ideal way to inspire your students by doing something different with math.
