Berkeley High to Open Green Energy Academy
California’s Berkeley High School, which already contains a number of small, themed academies, will launch a green energy school next year funded by the state and the Pacific Gas & Electric Co., according to the Oakland Tribune. The school will emphasize teaching STEM subjects.
PG&E and other companies plan to offer internships to students enrolled at the school. The San Francisco-based energy company stands to gain from the school venture, as 40 percent of its employees (20,000 in total) will be eligible for retirement over the next five years. Find out more
