Online Exhibit: DNA at Work

dnaPutting DNA to Work, an on-line exhibit of the Koshland Science Museum, National Academy of Sciences, contains activities for middle and high school students, background information, and a downloadable exhibition guide and student worksheets on DNA-related issues, including forensics, crops, and infectious diseases. Self-directed flash activities for students include “Probe the Sequence,” “Inherited Diseases,” “DNA Criminal Justice,” “Improving Crops,” and “Infectious Diseases.” The Webquest activity “Genetic Disease,” places students in the role of a medical investigation team seeking to determine the cause of infant deaths in New Mexico.
