ASEE Partners with NSTA
The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) has put together a public/private partnership to develop ways of engaging elementary, middle, and high school students in engineering. Participants will learn about innovative, hands-on, project-based engineering activities, courses, curriculum options, events, outreach programs, and competitions that both encourage students to pursue engineering careers and enable teachers to learn about and experience engineering.
Presenters will share lessons learned and examples of inquiry and design activities that have been developed in partnership with middle and high school science teachers for use in the classroom and in informal educational settings. The materials result from a collaboration of engineering educators and STEM professionals working with the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA, Robotics Education and Competition Foundation, and Autodesk.

[...] ASEE’s current partnership with NSTA is providing some opportunities for K-12 members around the country to help support the promotion of engineering education in the science community. eGFI co- directors Stacie Harrison and Dennis Cummings will be at each of the upcoming NSTA regional conferences (Hartford, CN October 27-29; New Orleans, LA November 10-12 and Seattle, WA December 8-10, 2011). If you plan to attend one of these, or live in proximity to one, please consider contacting Stacie or Dennis and volunteer to help. Specific needs are for folks to staff the ASEE/eGFI booth in New Orleans from 9 am-5 pm on Friday, November 11 and in Seattle on Thursday, December 8 from 11 am-5 pm. If you can and want to help, please contact Stacie or Dennis directly. To learn more about the partnership and conference locations, go to http://teachers.egfi-k12.org/asee-partners-with-nsta/. [...]
